In attempting to support a veritable number of conditions, my client’s prototype has failed to be acceptable for reuse. Whilst bearable yet incredibly slow when running on my iMac in Chrome, my client is restricted to IE running on old laptops behind strict security. To settle my client’s concerns, despite delivering on time, I have had to offer a rebuild, stripping out all logic and dumbing down the prototype to a glorified click through. There appears to be no shortcut to this, and looks like it is going to take me at least 3-5 days to rework something that took me 6-weeks to build. Utterly embarrassing.
PLEASE do look to address this complexity overload problem in future versions. I only choose Axure because it can support conditions and operate of global variables and repeater data tables. The effort that goes into making a prototype in Axure is marginally less effort than building in Wordpress (Sorry for using such profanity to any FE Devs), yet the risk of hitting slow page loads is much higher in Axure.
When posting to Axshare, I would dearly like to know that the global variables and conditional logic are running on your servers - minimising page load and possibly compressing the page content for optimum transfer between server and browser, or at least load content in the background. It would also be great to be reassured that at least the most recent browser versions over the past 2-3 years are supported. Clients get it’s a prototype an imperfect, but they don’t get waiting for pages to load.
Help us guys! Axure is the gold standard, but it appears only when it is a small prototype. Anything more complex and it turns to fools gold.
