I need a cross icon for my screen however when I use the inbuilt cross icon by the name of close, I am unable to reduce its width and make it look better I need a thin icon like a text in form of (X) however then it should be expandable since I need to put it on a component that is covering a wide space. Any suggestions how to achieve this?

Make a cross using two line widgets at 45 degrees. Or two rectangle shapes so you can better control the width.
You could arrange them then group them together so they behave as a single component.

You cant make the cross thinner as its a font. You could try a thinner font style family such as Google Material?
