How can I create extensive tree widgets in Excel or other?

Using the context menu to build an expansive tree is miserable. Is there a way I can create it in Excel/other and import it?

It is possible to use a repeater, which you can paste data in from Excel, but using a repeater to do it for more than two levels of menu is almost as miserable for different reasons.
