Unable to connect to Axure Share - What It Means and What to Do

#1

Unable to connect to Axure Share. Please make sure you have an internet connection and try again.

Hi everyone,

This is one of the most common errors that Axure RP users run into. You might see this error while attempting to upload an RP file to Axure Share, or you might see it while trying to log in to or create an account in Axure RP.

This error means that, for one reason or another, Axure RP is unable to communicate with our servers. This could be caused by something as straightforward as an interruption in your internet connection, or it could be caused by a network security mechanism blocking Axure RP or the URLs it’s trying to access. The troubleshooting steps below will help you to identify the most common causes of the error and let you know which steps to take to resolve them.

1. Update Axure RP

Ensure that Axure RP is up-to-date. To do this, compare the version number listed at “Help > About Axure RP” with the current version on our website at www.axure.com/update.

After updating, try uploading your prototype/logging in to your account again.

Note: Once Axure RP is able to communicate with our servers, you can just use the “Help > Check for Updates” dialog instead.

2. Restart Axure RP

If for any reason you’re unable to update, try restarting Axure RP. With older builds of RP, out-of-date IP addresses for Axure Share might occasionally get cached on the machine. Restarting Axure RP will clear that cache and allow the tool to fetch a new, valid IP.

3. Log in to Axure Share in Your Web Browser

Check to see whether you’re able to access the domains that Axure RP needs to communicate with. To do this, try navigating to share.axure.com in your web browser. If you’re unable to load the page, something in your network security may be blocking access. You’ll want to reach out to your IT department to get access to the following domains:

4. Check Proxy and Firewall Settings

If you’re able to access the Axure Share website, something in your network environment may be blocking Axure RP’s internet access. This is often a firewall or, if you’re using a Windows machine, a proxy server. In the case of a firewall, Axure RP will need to be added to its safe list. For a proxy server, you’ll need to configure Axure RP’s proxy settings via “Account > Proxy Settings”. (Your IT department may need to help you with these.)

Note: If you’re able to access the Axure Share website, you can upload your prototypes via the web interface. Learn how in our Axure Share reference guide!

5. Check Your Internet Connection

If none of the above steps has led to a solution, there may be a general internet connectivity issue to blame. This could be at the level of your computer or your network, so you’ll probably want to reach out to your IT department for assistance.

Hopefully this will help get most of you back up and running. If you find yourself needing further assistance, though, don’t hesitate to email us at support@axure.com.
