Penpot's Grid Layout system

#1

I just saw a video on YouTube showing off Penpot’s new grid system which looks like a truly novel way to move from a layout done with absolute positioning (as in Axure when we’re laying out shapes on the canvas), to one that utilizes the css grid layout standard.

I have not played too much with Penpot, it’s too much like Figma for my taste. The way they handle the concept of prototyping is far too high level and simplistic for me after years of Axure prototyping.

But this idea of laying out shapes and components on the canvas to get an idea of how everything is supposed to fit together and then afterwards moving them into a layout managed by CSS grid is rather brilliant.
